Bridge of Sighs is one of a series of paintings Turner painted whilst in Venice 1819, 1833 and 1840.
Turner was a Londoner, who attended the Royal Academy School of Art when he was just 15 years old. His art was unique amongst contemporaries, with his studies of light and colour he freed himself from past traditions and styles.
